The RA978 is a vertically polarised antenna giving omni-directional coverage in the UHF band 225-400MHz. Designed to handle powers of up to 1.2kW (PEP), the antenna is compact and of rugged construction.
Essentially a fat folded monopole, the brass radiating element is enclosed in a fibreglass radome and mounted on a skeleton ground plane consisting of 4 aluminium radial rods inclined downwards and 4 curved rods.
The whole antenna can be mounted on any vertical pole of diameter between 30-60mm.
