Racal Antennas Limited has many years of experience in design, development and manufacture of omnidirectional whip antennas for the military user. They have been developed after consultation with military users and radio manufacturers worldwide.

The 989-901 has been designed for HF receiving applications and can be mounted on communications shelters, elevated on suitable masts or fixed to buildings.  Constructed from glass fibre using a three-piece whip, the antenna can be easily dismantled for transportation. The antenna elements are supported by a feed through base manufactured from thermoplastic polyester, which features high strength when exposed to severe stress. The antenna base is bolted to a support mounting tube, 40mm diameter which can be clamped to a range of structures as required.  An earthing terminal is available on the base assembly to improve grounding of the antenna.
